    ULSD vs Heating Oil

Legalities aside, are there any consequences to the longevity of a 6.7 L power stroke if it runs on heating. Hypothetically, the DPF and EGR no longer function and the engine is tuned as such. Alaska doesn't dye heating oil/off road diesel and sells #1 and#2 heating oil for above/below ground...

    F-250/6.7L Diesel in Fairbanks (-40F)

I found a 5 gallon bucket of Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 for $109 at Atwoods. From what I've read it seems like it'll do the trick. I just hope I can find it for that price when I get back to AK.

    F-250/6.7L Diesel in Fairbanks (-40F)

Thanks for the feedback. The real question in my head is which weight will be correct. 0w is a no brainer, it's the 30 vs 40 that I'm weighing. My logic says that oil temps are probably going to be cooler in winter and may never even get up to 200 (I just drove from FL to OK, max temp I saw was...

    F-250/6.7L Diesel in Fairbanks (-40F)

I've heard that the newer diesels do much better in the cold. If left at -40 and not plugged in, I'm sure they would still have issues though. Batteries don't put out much current at those temps if they get cold soaked. I've had friends take small generators on hunting trips solely to plug in...

    F-250/6.7L Diesel in Fairbanks (-40F)

I'm OK for the summer, I'll winterize it while I'm here. I use Wolverine heaters on my Camry and have never had an issue. I'm planning to heat the oil pan, transfer case, transmission pan and batteries. Originally Posted By: BobFout Be aware that Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 0w40 is the same thing as...

    F-250/6.7L Diesel in Fairbanks (-40F)

I just sold my soul and bought a 2016 Ford Truck w/ 6.7L Powerstroke (see username). I asked the Ford dealer about winter oil and they said they use 10w30 year round. It seems that 5w30 or 5w40 would be a better option. I like Amsoil and Mobil products, any recommendations from the peanut...

    Oilpan Heater Question

Is there a temp at which it's a bad idea to turn it on(i.e too warm). I have a Camry w/ an Oilpan, Block and Battery heater installed and it was really nice to get in and have the heater "kind of" work as soon as I started the car. it only got down to 15F last night (I'm in Fairbanks). Someone...

2003 Toyota Camry, Alaska Temps, What oil?

Thanks for the quick replies. I had no idea that 0w-20 was back spec'd to the 2003 models. I'm installing a block/pan/battery heater this weekend and still undecided on the autostart.

2003 Toyota Camry, Alaska Temps, What oil?

I've always ran Mobil 1 5w-30 in my Camry, but I'll be moving to AK this winter. Will 0w-30 be better in the occassional -60* F temp we'll get in Fairbanks. The owners manual doesn't spcifically recommend it, it only shows 5w-30. Thanks.

    Won't crank when engine hot

You can also buy a heat sheild for the new starter so this doesn't happen again.
