1941 Packard 120...easy peazy, same gear oil used in manual steering box, transmission, factory Borg-Warner R9 overdrive, and rear end all get Valvoline 85-140. Same gear oil was drained.

So, what is BITOG's latest darling oil?

This is the exact oil I use in my Pre-War Packard. It is excellent in this application, and I comfortably get 800 mile OCIs with this oil, in a car with no oil filter, and original not rebult engine. -Chad

    Mahle OX 149D

I was using the Mahle ox149d in my 2007 S60 until 2x in a row the filter was loose from the base of the cartridge housing where it snaps on after only a 4k oci. Ive since switched to the Mann hu819x and havent had that problem since.

    PCMO for Pre-WWII cars

Thank you all for the feedback; much appreciate the nice comments on the car as well. I'll most likely stay away from the aftermarket filters for the sake of originality. Probably try one of the HM oils next time, hoping it might run even a bit smoother than it does now. Worst case, I go back...

    PCMO for Pre-WWII cars

I have a 1941 Packard 120, with original straight 8, and no oil filter. I don't believe the engine has ever been out of the car. It doesn't look like the head has ever been off of it either. The clock currently shows a little over 18,000 miles. Could have rolled over 100k, but i'm not convinced...
