I'd call a VW dealer and ask a service writer to run the VIN and see if there is a dealer service history. When I worked at a dealer, I'd do that for people and print it out or email it to them.
Here in northern Illinois, my IS300 sat outside from last Saturday, the 26th, until Wednesday morning. It was about -30F. Wind chill was around -53F. The cat had a vet appointment at 9am. I went out to start it up at 8. It cranked as slowly as I've ever heard a car crank. The battery is 3 years...
Doesn't surprise me. My Lexus recommends premium but runs great and gives me maximum mpg on 89 octane mid grade, which saves me about $.35 per gallon. The old 2JZ-GE is so smooth and torquey, I can't see a reason to change.
salesrep, if you mean Roger K., I don't know him but he's right across the highway from me. If you get up this way, maybe we could grab a bite at Martha's Kitchen! I'd love to know what Schaeffer has for my S2000 transmission, too. If I ever go down around Pontiac for any reason, I just might...
This week, I put about 1100 miles on an old Pete with a Cat under the hood. Our bulk tanks are outdoors, of course. The trucks, however, are indoors overnight. Our fleet of about 15 trucks hasn't had a single problem with ambient temps as low as about -9. I have seen more trucks on the side of...

I've only seen a couple mentions of Marathon, so I'll add my experience with it. I've had my S2000 since new in 2004. This summer was Marathon 93 octane all year long. I've gotten 27-30 mpg all year on it. In the past, most recently using Shell V-Power and several years ago using Mobil 93, I...

I think what's most interesting about this thread is how you started it under one name and are continuing it under another.
This almost gave me an aneurysm.
I have had 2 excellent experiences with NGK wires. My old CRV and now on my IS300. They stay nice and pliable for a lot of miles. I'd be confident that their boots are of equal quality. Have you searched for complete coils? Sometimes they can be found at a very reasonable cost.
There have been no reports of failure, therefore success!
When there are actual flush products intended to address this exact issue, why on earth would you even consider this? One need not risk the integrity of their engine seals to decarbon their rings. Regardless of what the nameless engine...
Precisely! The consensus here has always been that there really isn't anything that can be effective in 10 minutes unless it's incredibly harsh stuff that could do other incidental damage. 109 will do a great job over a complete interval. Better yet, two consecutive intervals. Just change your...
I can't believe nobody has said this yet.........BG109 isn't a quick flush product. It's meant to be in the sump for an entire OCI. That was a complete waste of the product. I'd have used the MOA (BG110) for a full OCI and a nice consistent and slow cleaning. That stuff does work on sludge like...
