    Honda reliability

My recollection is that the majority of the early 2000's Honda automatic transmission issues were related to the V6 motor in the Accord and TL.

    Stealerships and cabin filters

I've seen the same at the Toyota and Subaru dealer. It didn't take me more than 15 minutes for the first time I did it on either car. Now the engine air filter on the Subaru was a bit of the PITA, but the cabin air filter was nothing.

    Feedback on Jump Start Packs?

Meant to put that in the OP. Just jumping a Subaru Outback 3.6R and a Prius. No 6.7 Powerstroke here. So I'm sure most consumer grade jump packs have the juice I need, even when the battery is stone dead like today.

    Feedback on Jump Start Packs?

I'm kind of out in the middle of nowhere and left a dome light on (there was a flood light hitting the car...so I didn't see it at night). Luckily there was a maintenance guy coming to the house, so I got a jump. Otherwise, I would have needed a tow truck to come down a dirt road. I've been...

    C&D - WRX vs GTI

Eh, C&D treats the GTI like the 3 series now. Wins everytime, even if the scoring doesn't seem to add up. Don't get me wrong, I'd have a tough decision to make between the two and GTI might get the nod now just because there is no Rex hatch right now. With an extended warranty though I'm...

How old are the plugs? Probably be my first guess.

2013 Ford Edge - over heat question

I take it the dash doesn't have a temp gauge? Seems the manufacturers want us to be able to observe less and less and just "trust" the computer. I was thinking cooling fan too. Is the evaporator sandwiched in with the radiator?

    Fancy Stud Finder from Costco

I'd be in for one if it works well. I have two I use now because I don't trust either of them. When I've been mounting TVs, there isn't room for error.

    2014 Honda civic LX price?!

Dealer near me is advertising $159/month for 36 on a Civic LX. Honda itself is advertising a zero down 36 month promotion for an Accord LX for 240 a month. So yeah, I'd say you can do better. Unless your credit is not good, and then all bets are off. Leases still rely on good credit to be...

Daily commute $$ to work toll/gas/parking

About 90 miles round trip for me. Prius averages about 46 mpg because I probably drive too aggressively. Need to learn how to coast more and hypermile. 1.9 gallons of fuel * 3.50/gal (current) = $6.65 Toll Road #1...usually use twice a day = $2.50 * 2 = $5.00 Parking is negligible. My company...

    Post your latest detailing activity

Saw my wife's car was splattered by a avian attacker, so I put my own car on the shelf again. Just a quick clean up. Duragloss 901 with a CarPro Wool mitt Pinnacle wheel cleaner with a Daytona speed master brush Finish with Duragloss Aquawax spray on. I had the Aquawax sitting around for...

Griot's Garage Machine Sealant Kit $200

I have not had an opportunity to use it yet, but I grabbed one of the Amazon kits during Christmas season when it had a coupon. Basically the same kit but with towels and a couple pads. After consistently missing the deals on the standalone polisher, I just grabbed the kit. I see now they have...

use collinite 845 for the first time... love it!

I'd have a hard time straying from 845 as what I'll apply when I try to do a proper detail. I don't always have time to do the cars as regularly as I want, and 845 has shown impressive longevity. I could swear I've seen reports of 845 in AutoZone, Advance and Carquest locations, but it seems...

    Double Edge Safety Razor

I use an E1 Gillette "Red Tip", similar to yours. I have several others as well, ranging from a Gem single edge from the teens to a "modern" razor by Edwin Jagger. Don't miss paying for Gillette Fusion cartridges and like seeing solid American made products from the past.

Best Jack Stands for home mechanic work??

I like HF for buying tools that I might not use very often (or potentially only once). Instead of struggling with the wrong tool, or I suppose renting one, you can buy one for a reasonable price. For ratchets and tools that I will probably use regularly, I still prefer to pay for quality. I...

    Michelin Defender Winter Performance

I had the Harmony, the model before they became the Defender and it was pretty good. Better than the Pirelli P4 I had in between two sets of Harmonys for sure.
