    Article on diesel pump technology

It takes out the entire fuel system when it fails unless caught very early. The positives it delivers plenty of fuel with little harmonics issues and is quiet in operation.

The cp4.2 is also prone to roller follower spin. They are not pinned to the bores of the pump so are free to rotate on the camshaft. This usually only happens with the pump pulls a large vacuum on suction (i.e. low fuel pressure or running out of fuel).

    Under valve cover 3.7 F150

Agreed. I’ve never actually seen one just “wear out”. The only times I have seen any of these give up the ghost is water pump failure resulting in coolant in the oil pan and driving too long, fuel injectors sticking wide open resulting in hydrolock and breaking connecting rods/windowing...

What are you working on today?

Exactly right. Clocked properly they work well. There is no light emitted out the end of the bulb. It’s aimed directly out the sides (9 and 3) at the reflectors the same as the factory halogens.

The beam cutoff is actually very good. Nice assumption, though.

What are you working on today?

changed all the lights over (minus reverse so far) to LED in my wife’s car. One with him beams on. Still won’t let me post some of the photos. It must be something with this new iPhone. It started when I got a new phone.

What are you working on today?

finished up the 3.7 engine. Not sure why but the software on the website isn’t resizing my photos correctly and therefore won’t let me post the pictures I took. Wayne is aware and looking into it.

Diesel Engines - Ways to Reduce EGR & Intake Clogging?

They make EGR filters now. Kind of like a DPF but for the EGR cooler https://fassegrsolutions.com/shop/product/ford/f-250/fass-egr-solutions-egr-filter-system-for-ford-6-7-powerstroke-2017-2019/

What are you working on today?

Started assembling the 3.7. Got the bottom end together with new connecting rods. Got the heads in and cams on one side. Machine shop sent wrong oil pump so cant put oil pan and timing set on yet. Waiting in 4 vvt seals for the cams on the RH bank too. Ac compressor is bolted up in...

What are you working on today?

Started 3.7L build. Mounted the block on the stand, measured all the bearing clearances with bore gauge. Mains are all ok, although #4 a tad tight at the minimum spec at 0.001”. The rods were all on the big side, over the limit. I might try another set of bearings and see what happens. If...

    2017 PSD 6100 miles/214 hours HPL 5w40 cold climate

@fantastic No. I towed more or less the same area/conditions. And the same trailer. There is far less towing miles on the last sample vs the 6100

    2017 PSD 6100 miles/214 hours HPL 5w40 cold climate

This is still ongoing leaching from copious amounts of silicone on the upper and lower oil pans. Insane amounts used. There is a fair amount of idle hours, but all fast idle. And I can’t really say it’s any more than summer time. I was towing through the beginning of November and took the...

    2017 PSD 6100 miles/214 hours HPL 5w40 cold climate

Changed oil and filters. 8206 miles 308 hours. Fuel dilution is interesting…doesn’t track linearly in this inverval. Looks like I could have rode this out a bit longer. Anyone have an explanation? Fair jump in iron wear and aluminum wear rate in just 2000 miles. One point of interest...

    Oil seepage question -2013 Ford 3.7 v6

That spot is a very common leak point. The surface area of the silicone sealing surface is smallest there. The torque should be 22 lb +45 degrees on the smaller bolts. I have found the motorcraft metal surface prep wipes make a big a big difference in adhesion to the aluminum when doing this...

What are you working on today?

Second one has been in and out of the shop alot recently with small coolant leaks/loss. First time I got my hands on it and found a ruptured EGR cooler which has been the source of the issues. Cooler will be ordered Monday.

What are you working on today?

2 more ISL Cummins. This first one had a laundry list of repairs on this truck. The rear main seal was leaking, as well as the oil on gasket and air compressor gasket. This truck also got a new set of king pins, and a full PM service with fluids/filters. Also descaled the chassis front to...

What are you working on today?

Stripped down a 3.7 for machine work. This one spun 2 rod bearings, and the rest were very beat up. I am not a fan of reconditioned rods especially with the cost of 45$ for new ones each so going to get 6 new connecting rods. Mains in excellent condition. Crank will probably need to be cut...

How should I deal with this rust on the underside of my older F-150

It’s thinner than it looks. Just speaking from experience from working in fords in the northeast almost my entire career.
