You and I both know you are trying to bait me to say there is more than one type of Zinc, referring to the element and not the catch-all for additives containing zinc. I’ll turn it back and say this, will you acknowledge error if you find there are more zinc additives than just ZDDP?
Other than cars that are tracked or specifically built for high HP performance, standard paper filter all the way. They filter particulate much better.
Marketing is definitely an issue. I had never heard of them before BITOG and all my friends never heard of them. Seems like they are more popular down south.
I would not want to pay the homeowners insurance. Would not want to pay the auto insurance either for that matter. LA is the highest insurance rates in the country for auto. Michigan is bad enough…
It’s likely the Zinc and Phosphorus weren’t seen on this VOA fully. VOAs and UOAs should be taken with a grain of salt. They are helpful, but don’t give the full picture. Would need nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to more accurately see what is going on...
I used to work for a major auto insurer. You could say I “went with the Flo”. Auto insurer actuarials are not good right now. Their costs are up 30% on average due to increased repair costs. Here in Michigan, my rate increased 20%, which is fair.
I have the KO2s on my truck and am glad to have them. Their only downfall is performance on wet roads (albeit in a RWD pickup any tire would struggle). Great performance in mud, snow, trails, rocks, etc here in Michigan. Quiet on the road as well.
